Your hike is marked. Enjoy.

Recently, I was in a counseling session with a beautiful young lady. As always, we started our session in prayer, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in all Truth (John 16:13). Often, the Lord will give me visions to help the counseling sessions along the path of healing. Soon after we finished praying, I saw a hiking trail with Jesus and He said to me, “Tell her it’s a marked trail so she doesn’t have to worry where she is going.” Jesus gave me a vision of this young lady walking with Him on a beautiful trail to an amazing destiny. Jesus reminded us that He was there guiding her. Knowing the trail was “marked” brought her great peace.

Jesus revealed more as we continued on our session together…

Jesus guides us , enjoys us and leads us, but the process (the hike) is what makes us.

This beautiful lady needed the assurance that Jesus was with her on her journey and that He was guiding her through her life challenges. In my spirit, I felt Jesus lead me to remind her what happens when we are on a hiking trail in the company of someone we love: we talk, laugh, and enjoy the time together while looking at the beautiful scenery. Often times hiking trails can be tough, but with the right company we forget or manage the pain with His joy (Nehemiah 8:10).We don’t worry about what is ahead of us because we are enjoying the moment. Jesus was pulling her into that mindset. A mindset to enjoy the process, look around, take a deep breath, enjoy His creation, and enjoy the moments with Him.

So many of us miss the companionship of being with JESUS on our trail of life.

Yes, of course there may be some obstacles in the way. We can trip, fall, come across some unwelcome bugs, or even step in dog (you know what). However, don’t despair—Jesus has the bug spray and the band-aids and even a pooper scooper! He will laugh with you, cry with you, and dream with you all while you follow His marked trail for your life.

Did you know “the purpose of a trail marker is to help hikers follow a given path. It is used to indicate things such as the beginning and end of trail, a change of direction or an intersection.” (Kelly Hodgkins, How to Read Hiking Trail Signs, Markers and Blazes)

Now that we are able to go outside again and enjoy the state parks, I think this vision is worth sharing, and the beautiful young lady whom I counseled agreed to share this amazing vision to help all of us remember that no matter what happens along the way, the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit) already marked your trail. If you stay in fellowship with them, you will just know where to go. So enjoy the process, enjoy the companionship, and rest assured that your hiking trail is “marked.” There is a beautiful destiny waiting for you..

Can I pray for you ?

“Dear Lord,

Whoever reads this blog, may it richly bless and encourage them how deep and how wide is your love for them and how your thoughts about them outnumber the grains of sand. Jesus, you already marked their trails—we can rest in this. You lead us beside still waters and you make us lie down in green pastures because you know some of your children can not get there by themselves. I pray your people will come wholeheartedly to you and want your companionship. Lord, you long to be with them, showing them the goodness of the process and that the timing belongs to you. You created the unique, beautiful trail just for them. Individually, you call them to come out and hike with you. May they rest knowing you are in control and enjoy the journey.”

Here are some tips to remember along the hiking trial.

  1. Let go off the things you can not control, surrender all your worries into the care of Jesus. The Bible tells us He cares for you.
  2. Pray specifically like a friend , don’t hold anything back when speaking to Jesus. Getting to know His love and character is the richest and most meaningful relationship you will ever have.
  3. Enjoy your journey!
